Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 0 - 500 m
Distribution:  Circumglobal in the sub-tropical convergence region of the southern hemisphere with records between 30°S and 40°S in the southeast Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 14-17. Brown-yellow in color, flanks silver; fin bases and edges of scale pockets black (Ref. 3988). Dorsal adipose fin present, ventral adipose fin absent.
Biology:  Mesopelagic species (Ref. 75154).
