Max. size:  25 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 55 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa to Maldives. Reported from the Philippines (Ref. 5515).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sand and rubble bottoms of coral reefs (Ref. 9710). Uncommon in markets.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 June 2017 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  venomous
