Family:  Characidae (Characins; tetras), subfamily: Stethaprioninae
Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Orinoco River basin and coastal drainages in the Guianas.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A gregarious species which frequently occurs in small creeks with sandy bottoms or in canals with silty bottoms (Ref. 12225). Occurs in all types of habitats (Ref. 27188).
