Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Labeoninae
Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India and Sri Lanka. The status of threat refers to the population in Sri Lanka, which Pethiyagoda considers the valid name as Labeo lankae.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits large streams and rivers in the upper reaches (Ref. 41236). Found in reservoirs and still waters (Ref. 11966).

Threat to humans:  harmless
