Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 220 - 780 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: off southeast Africa and off the Hawaiian Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 108-115; Anal soft rays: 87-94; Vertebrae: 35-61
Biology:  Benthopelagic or benthic (Ref. 58302). Rare species (Ref. 34024). Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family featuring oviparity, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
