Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 234 - 760 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Somalia to South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal), Madagascar, RĂ©union and Sri Lanka; to the Andaman Is., Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, southern Japan, northern Australia, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Tasman Sea and Vanuatu.
Diagnosis:  Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 6-6. Light to dark brown above, lighter below; body, median fins, and pectorals pigmented (distal portion of pectorals with darker pigmentation).
Biology:  Found on the outer continental shelf and upper slope. Feeds mainly on fishes (Ref. 5236). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
