Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  47 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 270 - 290 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific (Ref. 40966) and Northeast Pacific (Ref. 58302).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal soft rays: 17-20. Pectoral fin long. Teeth small, conical, numerous, with fang-shaped teeth on dentary. Luminous organ a small roundish anterior leathery lens, located in a deep pit . Few rows of scales separated from periproct and scale covered skin within the limits of periproct which is not separated from the latter by processes. Luminous gland with about 10 muscular cords located on its dorsal surface. Abdominal vertebrae 12-13 (Ref. 33732).
