Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Tanganyika (Ref. 6060). In the Lukuga River (Lake Tanganyika outflow), known up to the Kisimba-Kilia rapids (Ref. 93587).
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 89-89
Biology:  Occurs in littoral zones with rocky, sandy or muddy bottoms (Ref. 6060).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 31 January 2006 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
