Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 60 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: off the Okhotsk coast of Hokkaido to the northern Sea of Japan and the Bering Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 10-12. Four preopercular spines, the uppermost curved upward (Ref. 559). Supraocular cirrus simple (Ref. 559). Pelvic fin united with belly by means of a wide dermal fold (Ref. 559).
Biology:  Common in the littoral zone at depths up to 30 m. Probably spawns in the littoral zone and its larvae and fry are transported to river estuaries in tides (Ref. 26949).
