Distribution:  Western Pacific from Taiwan to Coral Sea and Vanuatu;
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 29-30; Vertebrae: 31-31. This species is distinguished by the following characters: oral cavity lightly colored; body slender (SL at least 4.5 as great as body depth); SL approximately three times as great as the head length; praeoperculum with smooth free margin; A 29-30; developed gill filaments 16-17, the largest 12.1-14.0% times as long as head (Ref. 96155).
