Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range - 2000 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: South China Sea (Ref. 40966) and Caribbean Sea (Ref. 86949).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal soft rays: 4-4. Characterized by having head and body covered with pigment nearly to base of caudal fin; darkest pigment of head on jaw and gill cover; tips of the longest caudal rays pigmented, few melanophores on caudal fin near base; illicium short and undeveloped; esca short, posteriorly directed appendage; relatively larger subopercle, ventral fork of opercle relatively shorter (Ref. 86949).
