Orthochromis kalungwishiensis (Greenwood & Kullander, 1994)

Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater,
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Kalungwishi River, tributary of Lake Mweru, upper Congo River basin in Zambia (Ref. 26626).
Diagnosis:  Description: slender bodied; frontal profile rounded; mouth rather pointed and ventrally-oriented; caudal peduncle slender and relatively long (Ref. 52307). Coloration: body olive, belly paler than back; black longitudinal stripe runs from eye to origin of caudal fin; reddish dots often visible in soft dorsal fin and occasionally in caudal fin; anal fin with several small, blackish dots; egg spots absent (Ref. 52307).
Biology:  Rheophilic (Ref. 52307). Collected from clear, fast-flowing waters. The type series was taken from down to 2 m depth close to the shore, over rocky bottoms. Water temperature was 20.7 °C, pH 6.8, conductivity 25.7 µS, dissolved oxygen 9.3 mg/l (Ref. 26626).
