Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  6.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 33 - 290 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea (Ref. 12541); Andaman Is. (Ref. 90102); Bahrain and Oman (Ref. 11904); Philippines (Ref. 90102).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by semi-translucent whitish body; ventral portion of head and body partly silvery; side of snout with short blackish streak; caudal fin forked; greatest depth of body 3.0-4.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Known only from the type specimens trawled from silt or sand bottoms at depths between 30 to 40 meters (Ref. 11904). Also found in flat bottoms in 33-290 m (Ref 90102).
