Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  7.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 10 - 22 m
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: Maldives, India and Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 24-24. Usually with 23-24 total gill rakers on the first arch, no white spot behind the second dorsal fin, dark vertical bars present on body reaching to or past the lateral line, dark stripes present on head and upper body, and caudal peduncle length 20-25% SL.
