Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 10 - 70 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: China (Ref. 90102), Indonesia and Japan, distribution probably disjunct due to association with cool temperature regimes.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by white to pale grey body color; 6-7 brown or yellow-brown stripes; middle of caudal fin base with prominent black spot; greatest depth of body 2.8-3.3 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Solitary or in pairs. Often on steep slopes in crevices and caves in 10-70 m (Ref 90102).
