Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 42 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known from three specimens from off Madagascar (Ref. 2152). Reported from the Comoro Islands (Ref. 41634).
Diagnosis:  Caudal fin slightly emarginate in juveniles to extremely lunate with filamentous lobes in adult males; six longitudinal dark brown lines on body (purple in life), only the sixth extending beyond the anterior half of body (it extends faintly to caudal peduncle).
Biology:  Found in the outer reef slope of barrier reefs.
