Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 200 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: endemic to the Galapagos Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7
Biology:  Found off rocky coasts. Depth of occurrence varies within the archipelago according to temperature, with preference for cooler water (Ref. 11295). Maximum depth range from Ref. 121943.
