Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range - 1050 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: west coast of Tasmania, Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 64-64; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 56-56; Vertebrae: 70-70. Caudal-fin rays 9; pectoral fin notch distinct, moderately deep; pectoral girdle with 3 round radials; chin pore single, unpaired; gill opening small, entirely above pectoral base, reaching ventrally to level of eye centre; HL 19.7% SL, about equal to its depth; preanal long, 40%; body deep, 132% HL; color solid black; orobranchial cavity and peritoneum black, tongue densely dotted (Ref. 42734).
Biology:  Found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154). Probably benthic or benthopelagic (Ref. 42734). Largest eggs 1.7 mm in diameter, unripe (Ref. 42734).
