Family:  Aploactinidae (Velvetfishes)
Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 10 - 30 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-15; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-10. Description: Characterized by dark brown or blackish to yellowish color, usually with mottled pattern; deeply incised membrane between third and fourth dorsal spine; origin of dorsal fin above rear edge of eye; prickles (modified scales) covering head and body; three spines on lacrimal; five blunt spines on rear margin of preopercle; depth of body 3.2 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits sand and rubble bottoms, frequently neas reefs, in 10-30 m (Ref 90102).
