Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Irrawaddy basin, Myanmar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Distinguished by its color pattern consisting of 2-4 black vertical bars below dorsal fin; the quite similar looking S. balteata is distinguished by a series of 4-5 pairs of brown spots along dorsal mid-line in front of dorsal fin. Caudal fin emarginate (Ref. 39226).
