Distribution:  South America: Orinoco and Amazon River basins.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal soft rays: 187-215; Vertebrae: 82-84
Biology:  Specimens collected at Caño Bravo in the Río Apure drainage of Venezuela, from a white water habitat over a substrate of sand and clay covered with leaf litter and at water depths of up to 1.5 m (Ref. 84053).
