Environment:  demersal; freshwater; depth range 20 - 60 m
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Only one specimen known. Probably lives over sand and probably filters its prey from the sand by passing it over the gills (Ref. 5700 and 5595).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 19 June 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
