Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7.5; dH range: 10 - 20
Distribution:  Africa: reported from "large rivers in the Congo basin" (Ref. 2829), but apparently limited to Pool Malebo (Ref. 41585) or "Leopoldville" (=Kinshasa)(Ref. 41590, 41591).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in large rivers (Ref. 2829), i.e. not a brackish water species. Feeds on benthic animals such as snails and worms. Solitary, aggressive against conspecifics. Eggs are deposited on leaves and defended by the male.
