Family:  Monacanthidae (Filefishes)
Max. size:  22 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 230 - 600 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Sagami Bay to the East and South China seas. Also recorded from Darwin to North West Cape, Australia (Ref. 5978) and Papua New Guinea (Ref. 6771).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Juveniles(?) found near shore on sand bottoms (Ref. 11230). Adults in deep water (see occurrence records).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 03 March 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
