Distribution:  South America: Guaporé River basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal soft rays: 16-17. Having curved mouth cleft; large eyes with orbital diameter 10.4-11.5% SL in adult males; body depth 22.1-22.2% SL in adult males; head length 30.6-32.7% SL in juveniles; and pelvic length 56.4-59.1% SL (Ref. 26656).
Biology:  Bottom spawner, 6 months incubation (Ref. 27139).
