Family:  Mullidae (Goatfishes)
Max. size:  7.22 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 2 - 20 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Norfolk Island and New Zealand.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7. Differs from other Upeneus with 7-spined dorsal fin in generally having14 pectoral fin rays; 9 + 22-23 gill rakers; 29 - 30 lateral line scales; no information regarding teeth on ectopterygoid and color of peritoneum (Ref. 43139).
