Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  40 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 450 - 732 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: western Caribbean, the Straits of Florida off Cuba, and the Atlantic off northeastern Florida.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Anal spines: 0-0. Scales rather large, with slender conical to somewhat lanceolate and flattened spinules arranged in widely divergent V row or in quincunx order. Snout with black margin along its leading edge only; gums all white; first dorsal fin uniformly blackish.
