Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: rio Araguaia basin in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Anal-fin hooks of mature males restricted to the last unbranched and first four, rarely five, branched rays. Absence of a semicircular flange-like process on principal caudal-fin ray 18 and of an adipose fin and presence of seven pelvic-fin rays and only conical teeth (Ref. 56894).
