Family:  Ogcocephalidae (Batfishes)
Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 660 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Florida and northern Gulf of Mexico in USA to northern South America.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-5; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 4-4. Dorsal surface of disc light brown, without spot; dark brown bands on anterior to anal fin origin (Ref. 13608).
Biology:  Inhabits offshore water, mostly from 90-180 m depth.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
