Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 40 - 50 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from the coast of Natal, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 65-70; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 56-60; Vertebrae: 46-46. Greyish with 13 pairs of dark brown bars across body and head and onto dorsal and anal fins; posterior 1-2 pairs of dark bars sometimes fused; caudal fin blackish, with white spots (Ref. 3200).
