Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India. Reported from Nepal (Ref. 12045).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit shallow water riffles and spring pools (Ref. 12045). Found in small streams with pebbly bottom (Ref. 41236).

Country info:  Found in Gandaki, Koshi, Karnali, Bagmati, Bheri and Kamala rivers (Ref. 6351). Inhabits hill streams and creeks, preferring shallow water riffles and spring pools (Ref. 57735). Used in folk medicine and as ornamental fish by Buddhists (Ref. 12045). Status of Threat: Data deficient pristine rare ornamental species (Ref. 85009).
