Definition of Term

flexion larva
(English) A fish larvae at the stage of development when the posterior end of the vertebral column starts to bend upwards, as a preparation for the development of the caudal fin; marks a mid-point in larval development when also fin rays start to appear. (See also: vertebral column, larvae)

(French) Une larve du poisson à la scène de développement quand l'extrémité du postérieur de la colonne vertébrale commence à courber vers le haut, comme une préparation pour le développement de la nageoire caudale; repére un mid-point dans le développement larvaire aussi quand les rayons de la nageoire commencent à paraître.
