(1927) letter to field 8/12/27. Ova brought out from hums Haugh hatchery near Mexham. Mixture of brown + rainbow. In 1928, sample taken to natural history museum, London said to be some rainbows + others rainbow/Brown hybrids. All fish now in Malawi paper to be pure rainbows (pers. Obs.) Only fish found with rainbow are mountain catfish (Amphilius uranoscopus). Possible, but unlikely that other fish have been eliminated by rainbow. Crabs much less common on Zomba Plateau now, possibly through trout predation. Later imports: 1932 from kingwilliam's Town RSA, also 1933, 1934 1954: Jonkershoek, RSA + 1963. 1951 - Sagana, Kenya.     Ref:  FAO, 1997
