Comments: In Lake Alexandrina, spawning takes place in sandy shores (Ref. 6079) whereas in northern Australia, spawning occurs in muddy, lowland lagoons (Ref. 26398). There is no evidence of spawning migration, although the fish aggregate to spawn (Ref. 6390). Spawning takes place from spring to early summer in Lower Murray when water temperture is greater than 20-21°C (Ref. 26397). Spawning activity varies between northern and southern populations (Ref. 6390).
