The number of body contour large melanophores is about 9-13 dorsal and 8-11 ventral. Asymmetry starts at a length of about 6 mm, at 8 mm both eyes may be on the same side. Head shape typical of Soleidae, i.e. with round anterior profile and posteriorly not clearly distinct from the visceral sac.
