| Elongate body; gut extends over approximately 80% of SL. Head is elongate, head length increases with larval development. Transverse rugae develop on the gut, first on the terminal section, later over the entire length of the gut. The eyes are sessile and slightly oval in the early stages, becoming round in the later stages of larval development. Pigmentation: 7-8 melanin pigment patches dorso-lateral to the gut. Presence of dorso-ventral streaks of pigments on the notochordal tip in several specimens. By 10 mm, a considerable number of melanophores is visible over the entire body and head. The gut and caudal peduncle are devoid of pigmentation. Sequence of fin development: caudal; anal fin; dorsal; pelvic. | ||||
