পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 0; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 16-18; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 16 - 18. Back and sides blue, with small elongate black spots; fins with spots; dark gular band; belly silvery white (Ref. 4423).

Pelagic throughout its life history (Ref. 592, 48637). A schooling species. Feeds on larger zooplankton and fish larvae (Ref. 9680, 48637).
