Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Adults occur in lentic and lotic freshwater (Ref. 7300). Swim close to the bottom of moderate to swift flowing streams, over rock or sand. Retreat quickly to crevices when threatened (Ref. 44894). Herbivorous species (Ref. 7300). Feed on filamentous algae, scraped from hard surfaces using specially modified dentition. Form shoals, often mixed with S. rastellus (Ref. 44894). Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5005   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01778 (0.00705 - 0.04485), b=2.83 (2.61 - 3.05), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (11 of 100).
