Etymology: Alticorpus: Latin, altus = nutritious + Latin, corpus = body (Ref. 45335); macrocleithrum: From the Greek "makros" = large, big, tall and "cleithrum" = the bony element in the shoulder girdle. In this species, the cleithrum is exceptionally large (Ref. 55463).

體色 活的: 成魚的具有領域性的雄性: 背景顏色綠色- 藍色到紫色有黑色的橫帶; 身體, 與背部的與頭部的較後面的部分,具有一個褐色-紫色的色; 綠色-藍色的組成大部分明顯的在前面與 ventro-頭部的側面部份; 腹面分開黑色; 背鰭與尾鰭鰭灰褐色; 背鰭邊緣黑色; 在背鰭與尾鰭鰭上的深色的 maculae 與陷紋圖案; 胸鰭灰色的; 臀鰭黑色前面地與灰色的在後部地有大的白色或黃色的假眼斑.(參考文獻 55463) 雌性: 在背部而背-側部份上銀色的有褐色的色; 鰭灰色的; 背鰭垂部深褐色的; 在背鰭與尾鰭鰭上的模糊的深色 maculae 與陷紋圖案.(參考文獻 55463) 介於母魚與雄性成魚之間的不成熟而非具有領域性的雄性逐漸地然後綠色變得更深色與更更青銅色-用逐漸增加的領域性的藍色.(參考文獻 55463) 保護了稚魚，雌性與非具有領域性的雄性: 黃褐色 6 在背鰭基底下面的縱帶; 橫帶有時勉強可見; 鰭黃褐色; 背鰭有深色的垂部與深色的 maculae; 沒有 maculae 的尾鰭; 尾鰭的腹的﹐背部的與末梢部部份略微比其他部分顏色更深。 (參考文獻 55463) 小的彩色斑紋不同在族群之間存在。 (參考文獻 55463)
Typical deep-water species, with an even distribution below 60m (Ref. 55908). Found in areas where the bottom consist of diatomaceous ooze (Ref. 5595) but also on sandy habitats (Ref. 55908). Food may consist of invertebrates (Ref. 5595) and perhaps small fishes (Ref. 55463).
