Spine dorsali (totale): 0; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 12-14; Spine anali 0; Raggi anali molli: 17 - 20. Lateral line undeveloped externally, only the 1st 2 or 3 scales perforated; snout slightly projecting; gill rakers well developed; caudal peduncle narrow and long, its depth less than eye diameter; short luminous caudal glands only in males (Ref. 559).
Mesopelagic, migrating to the surface at night (Ref. 559).
