背棘 (總數): 17 - 18; 背的軟條 (總數): 8-9; 臀棘 3; 臀鰭軟條: 7 - 8. Has similar dentition to that of L. vellicans but inner teeth unicuspid, Body is more elongated, snout shorter, and coloration different. Possesses a pattern of orange-brown horizontal stripes along flanks but different from other species in its dorsal and caudal fin markings, very dark brown coloration in males, and head shape.
L. vellicans 有類似的生齒那但是內部的齒單犬齒的, 身體更瘦長的, 吻比較短的, 與顏色不同的。 持有一個橘褐色水平的斑紋圖案沿著側面但是不同的與其他的種在它的背鰭與尾鰭鰭斑紋中, 在雄性 , 與頭部形狀中的非常深褐色的顏色。
Is abundant in shallow water, mainly over rocks, and occurs down to a depth of 12 m. Feeds primarily on chironomid larvae, but also feeds on trichopteran larvae, ostracods and other small invertebrates (Ref. 4889).
