Etymology: Owstonia: Named for Alan Owston (1853‒1915), an amateur naturalist, yachtsman and collector of Asian wildlife, notably fishes from Japan and China.;  grammodon: Name from combination of Greek 'gramme' for line or row and 'odon' for tooth, presumably for the mostly single rows of teeth in the jaws..
