Ecology
Marine; bathypelagic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 3 - 2000 m (Ref. 58018). Deep-water; 9°S - 42°S
Atlantic, Indian and Pacific: circumglobal in the southern hemisphere, between about 25°S and the Subtropical Convergence, but in eastern boundary currents to 9°S (? seasonal).

Max length : 9.1 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 40727)
High-oceanic and mesopelagic; found between 74-400 m at night (Ref. 4066). Exhibits size stratification with depth. Sexually mature from about 62 mm (Ref. 4479).
