Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 8-9; Raggi anali molli: 8; Vertebre: 28 - 29. Usually with 5-6 branched dorsal rays; 7-8 pectoral rays; 6 pelvic rays; 22-23 lateral row scales and 0+3 gill rakers on first gill arch; 3 dark spots about the size of the pupil, one at mid-height of flank slightly before pelvic origin, one at base of posterior anal rays and one at middle of caudal base.
Inhabits swamps and ponds with clear, relatively deep water (Ref. 43281).
