背棘 (總數): 0; 背的軟條 (總數): 12-13; 臀棘 0; 臀鰭軟條: 7 - 8. Lower jaw falls inside upper jaw by at least the thickness of the lower lip; lower and upper lip well developed; head length less than 3.5 times in standard length; body depth at least 1.2 times in head length; no clear nuchal hump; eye diameter at least 2 times in snout length.
下頜在上頜裡藉著至少下面唇的厚度落下; 低的與上嘴唇發展良好的; 頭長少於 3.5 倍標準的長度; 體高至少 1.2 倍頭長; 沒有清澈的頸背隆起; 眼直徑至少兩倍吻的長度。
The species has a preference for rocky substrates, but also lives over sandy and muddy parts, especially in the shore area; absent from water deeper than 6 m; mainly a piscivore, but also eats small amounts of insects (Ref. 35835).
