Short description
Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 11. Body pale blue-gray with prominent yellow-orange spots on head and a pair of stripes on upper half of body. No scales on head, including predorsal; cycloid scales on anterior part of body, becoming ctenoid posteriorly (Ref. 31115)

    Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)
Occurs on sand-rubble slope at the base of a vertical cliff (22-30 m depth) and on small sand patches at the undercut bases of reefs (15-20 m depth). Each individual hovers at the entrance of a rubble-lined burrow occupied by an alpheid shrimp, where it hides when disturbed (Ref. 31115).
