Short description
Morfología | Morfometría
Espinas dorsales (total): 4 - 7; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 8-10; Espinas anales 1; Radios blandos anales: 15 - 18; Vértebra: 47 - 49. Scales in lateral line series above lateral band 48-52; predorsal scales 23-26. Specimens over 10.0 cm SL are recognized by the elongate head, small eyes, narrow interorbital, long snout and thick pointed premaxilla. Easily distinguished from O. piquava and O. mirinensis by several head shape characters. Ventral head profile nearly straight, sometimes with a slight convexity at the retroarticular joint; eyes clearly smaller than snout length; reticulate pigmented pattern in the border of check scales and body scales above and below lateral band (Ref. 47314).
Occurs in exclusively freshwater lakes of the coastal laguna system (Ref. 47314).
