خارهاي باله پشتي (کل): 7; شعاع نرم باله پشتي (کل): 11; خارهاي باله مخرجي 1; شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 11. This species is distinguished by the following characters: greatly reduced connecting membrane between innermost pelvic-fin rays, i.e., its height 23.3% of length of fifth pelvic-fin soft ray; 11 segmented rays on second dorsal fin; 33-34 longitudinal scale count; 11 predorsal scales; 11-12 transverse scale count from origin of second dorsal fin backward and downward to anal-fin base; cycloid scales in the pectoral fin base; third spine of first dorsal fin longest, slightly elongate and filamentous; slightly elongated ninth segmented caudal-fin ray, forming a pin-tailed caudal fin; 5 narrow dusky bars on head and body, anterior 4 diagonal rather than vertical; some short diagonal yellow lines on operculum (Ref. 75057).
Inhabits sandy gentle slope below coral-reef drop-off (45 m or more depths), and found to be associated with the alpheid shrimps (Ref. 75057).
