Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 7; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 15; Afterflossenstacheln 1; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 15 - 16; Wirbelzahl: 26. This species differs from its congeners in having a gently oblique mouth at an angle of 51-58° (average 55°) to longitudinal axis of body, and in possessing a bright blue stripe running from nape to dorsum of caudal peduncle in male when fresh or alive (Ref. 84007).
