Kurzbeschreibung Morphologie | Morphometrie

Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 12-13; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 9. Distinguished from all congeners by a uniform dusky brown color pattern without marks on dorsum or side of body and many conspicuous supplementary neuromasts along the lateral line and on the head. Can be further diagnosed from other congeners lacking brown or black marks on body by its dark brown color, incomplete lateral line extending only to beneath dorsal fin, and origin of dorsal fin located above origin of pelvic fin (Ref. 93080).

Biologie     Fachlexikon (Englisch) (z.B. epibenthic)

Mostly found in small streams in rubble riffles. Usually collected in areas where riparian vegetation cover was > 50% and included mature deciduous trees, screw pines, bamboo, ferns, tall grasses, Alocasias sp. and a variety of other herbaceous plants. Substrate was composed mostly of small to medium-sized rocks (1-13 cm). Stomach contents of a 4.5 cm SL female consisted of chironomid larvae (Diptera) and a mayfly (Ephemeroptera). The following physico-chemical parameters were recorded in the sampling sites: 7.0 average pH; 8.2 to 8.5 mg/l oxygen; 0 mg/l ammonia; 3.1-9.8 mg/l silica; approximately 10-13 mg/l (pH 4.5) alkalinity; 15 to 48 cm/s velocity; 430 m asl average elevation; 4.8-7.2 m stream width; and 18 to 40 cm depth. Sympatric in the Mae Khlong basin with Schistura aurantica (Ref. 93080).
